Walid Chamkhi's career has been built on two tracks followed in parallel: law and agronomy.
Law
He holds a master's degree (Master 2) in contract techniques and advanced law of obligations, and the French bar qualification certificate (CAPA). He began his career as a lawyer alongside a colleague certified as a specialist in rural law. He practises rural law and has gained particular experience of agricultural leases, tenant farming and litigation before the agricultural land tribunal (tribunal paritaire des baux ruraux), as well as contractual liability litigation.
Agronomy
He holds a French higher technical diploma in agronomy (BTSA), with a specialisation in organic farming, and worked in horticultural teaching and training. For several years, he trained farmers and landscapers in agronomic and landscaping techniques, and prepared them for the French certificate for the use of plant protection products (Certiphyto).
Plant law
Plant law is not a recognised specialisation in France: it is the firm's choice to devote its practice to the plant sector, following the plant through every branch of law that applies to it.
Method
- Understand the plant first: technical facts are established before they are argued, on site if the case requires it.
- Seek agreement when possible, prepare for expert proceedings and trial when it is not.
- A single point of contact, from the first analysis to the hearing.
- Fees agreed in advance in a written fee agreement.
Languages
The firm works in French, English and Arabic. Proceedings before French courts are conducted in French.
